Cafeteria News

August 29th, 2007 by Steven B. Haber

The Colonial School District has a policy regarding the distribution of food served to students during regular school hours.    As such, all food must be prepared under the supervision of school nutrition service staff members, all food must be prepared within or upon school premises, and all food must be prepared using nutritution service utensils and equipment.  In sum, these requirements prohibit families from bringing food from home to serve to students during the school day.  For example, bringing food or snacks to serve to children other than your own child is not permitted.

In addition, if your child has any dietary restrictions, please contact Mrs. Downward, our school nurse, to inform her about your child’s needs.  You will be asked to supply Mrs. Downward with documentation from your child’s doctor to be placed in their health file.

Your cooperation and support of this important matter is appreciated.

First Days of School

August 24th, 2007 by Steven B. Haber

I am happy to report that we have had a terrific start to the school year.  The students have been great!  For example, they have complimented others, maintained self control, helped others, set goals, remained focused, followed school and classroom rules.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone next week.

Attendance

August 18th, 2007 by Steven B. Haber

Attendance

All students are expected to attend school on a regular basis. Those who attend on a regular basis usually do better academically. If illness or family emergencies occur and your child must stay home, a written excuse must be sent to school when he/she returns. If we do not receive a note with the reason for the absence, the child’s absence will not be excused.

The note should include:

  • Your child’s name

  • The reason for the absence

  • The date(s) of the absence(s)

  • Your child’s room number

  • The parent/guardian signature

Late Arrivals

If your child is late to school, he/she must be brought into the main office by his/her parent/guardian and recorded as late, but present. A pass will be issued to admit your child to class. Excessive late arrivals to school will cause your child to miss important academic time.

Early Dismissals

If you must take you child out of school prior to the end of the school day, please have your child take a note to his/her teacher on the morning of the early dismissal stating the time and reason for the dismissal. When you arrive to pick up your child, you must report to the Main Office, not the classroom. You will be required to sign your child out and show identification. Children will only be released to a parent or guardian. If you must send someone else to pick up your child, a written note signed by the parent, containing all pertinent information , is required.

All students will be sent home their usual way unless the office receives written notification stating other arrangements are to be made.

Visitors

August 18th, 2007 by Steven B. Haber

Parents/guardians are always welcome at Wilmington Manor.  However, for the safety of all our students and staff we require all visitors to check in at the main office and obtain a visitor pass.

We have a new computerized program which you can easily sign in and out.  Simply point, type, and click.  A sticky label is printed that needs to be visible so that we know you have checked in.

If you have any questions on how to use this new computer program, the secretary or I will be happy to answer them.
